Ferret Brakes

The vehicles brakes were in need of attention as the brakes seemed to have seized over the years. The first thing to do was slacken off the double brake shoe adjusters and then withdraw the drum from the wheel assembly in order to get at the brake shoes. As can be seen from the pictures below a great deal of mud had got in to the brake system which needed to be cleaned.



















Once the brake drums had been removed it was time to remove the two brake shoes and cleam them up as they had become very dirty from mud and other debris getting in. The shoes were removed from the housings. The entire housing and mechanisms were cleaned the adjuster cog was also greased for ease of operation. The components were then placed back in to position.
